HDB Heywood
Henry De La Poer Beresford Heywood was born in 1855 to Colonel Thomas Heywood and his first wife Mary Emily Beresford. Mary was the daughter of Marcus Gervaise Beresford, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland from 1862. Her great-great grandfather was Marcus Beresford, 1st Earl of Tyrone. Thomas Heywood was the grandson of Nathaniel Heywood who was a founder of Heywood's Bank in Manchester (eventually subsumed into the Royal Bank of Scotland).
Thomas and Mary had three children together: Henry, Constance and Emily. Sadly, Mary died in 1858 whilst at Doveleys, the home of Thomas's great uncle. In 1862, Thomas remarried, to Sophie Grace St George. They had one daughter together, called Ellen Mabel, who was born in 1864. The family lived at Ocle Court in Herefordshire, until moving to Malvern at some point between the 1881 and 1891 censuses.
On 15th June 1882, Henry married Minnie Florence Newton Fulford (nee Lane), the widow of Cecil Mark Fulford. Minnie had had three child with her first husband: Muriel (bn 1878), Cecil (1879) and Sybil (bn 1881). Tragically, baby Cecil had died aged just 1 month old. Baby Cecil was buried in Brompton Cemetery, with Cecil senior being interred in the same grave two years later.
The 1891 and 1901 censuses show Henry and Minnie living at Eastington House, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. Henry and Minnie had 4 children together: Marcus, Vere, Olive and Margaret.
I don't know whether there was a split in the family, but by the time of the 1911 census, Henry was shown as living at Wrentnall House in Shropshire whilst Minnie is at 56 Balcombe Street, London. Both Henry and Minnie were in attendance at their son, Marcus' wedding to Margaret Curtis-Hayward in 1913, but were again enumerated in separate locations for the 1921 census with Henry again being at Wrentnall House. As yet, I can't find Minnie on the 1921 census.
Henry died on 14th September 1922 at Boreatton Park, which at the time was a mental hospital run by Dr Sankey. I have not determined whether Henry was there as a personal visitor or as an inmate.
