Lilian M Jones
Lilian was born on the 9th August 1876 to the Rev. David R Jones and his wife Elizabeth Anne. David and Elizabeth had taken the living of Weston Rhyn in 1875 with their only child being born a year later.
Elizabeth died in 1913 with David dying in 1916. Nothing is known of Lilian’s life from that point until 1939 when she is featured on the 1939 register living at 159 Newbridge Hill, Bath with Eva Griffiths. Eva was born on 6th September 1884 in Weston Rhyn, and was a trained nurse – in 1911 she is shown to be working at the Salford Royal Hospital.
It seems that Lilian was a poet – there are several examples of her poems published in local newspapers in early 1940s.
Lilian died on 4th September 1963 and was buried at St Mary the Virgin, Bathwick. When Eva died a few years later, she was cremated and then buried in the same plot.
